Sammi Nguyen holds her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her clinical internship at the renowned Council for Relationships in Philadelphia, with additional internships at Nationalities Service Center and HELP USA. She has completed training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD at the University of Pennsylvania as well as Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 training. Sammi earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude.

As a therapist, Sammi is profoundly non-judgmental, deeply curious, and open-minded. She doesn’t hesitate to bring humor and creativity into the therapy room, and believes in meeting every client where they are. Sammi finds joy in connecting with clients of every background and personality, with every set of strengths and struggles.

In her work with individual adults and teens, Sammi provides clients with practical tools to apply to their everyday lives and current relationships, while also finding compassionate routes into deep, underlying issues when the client feels safe enough for that exploration.

Sammi brings a collaborative and non-blaming approach to her work with couples and families. She works with couples and families to build on their strengths, safely drop defensiveness, and expand their vocabulary for connection.

Sammi has a particular interest in eating disorders, trauma, psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES), and couples work. She is also experienced with a range of issues from depression and anxiety to self-esteem building, parenting to gender questioning, navigating work stress to improving communication. Sammi is a PANS/PANDAS aware therapist.

Sammi is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
