Getting To Know Dr. Hartjen

Hello! Who is Jana outside of the office?!….A self-identified, quirky nerd who loves all things running, hiking, reflective, and inspirational! As a child, my favorite pass-time was “teaching” my cabbage patch kids, and this love for learning has only followed me into adulthood. You’ll often find me looking up quotes, watching inspirational videos, and engaging in self-exploration and mindfulness reading/writing. I love listening to singer-song writers who express beautiful reflections about adversity, diversity, human resilience and community. These wonderful outlets positively impact my work and the strength I see in everyone whom I interact with.
My childhood love for running and my family’s love for nature has also followed me into adulthood. I love going hiking with my husband, and I find the hilliest treks the most enjoyable! Running is therapeutic to me, and I have a love for longer runs/races. I love Thanksgiving Day 15ks, 10 milers, half and full marathons, and I hope to keep up the hobby for as long as possible! I was also a gymnast when I was younger, and will always be a gymnast at heart.
When I’m not active or working, you’ll find me in the kitchen. I love ice cream, cookies, and make a mean apple pie! I also enjoy making homemade soups and trying out new recipes. Babies, kiddos, Impractical Jokers, and road trips make me smile from ear to ear!
