Michelle Hilton, LPC (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and eating disorder specialist. She earned her Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Temple University. Michelle has extensive experience working with clients who have difficult relationships with food and their bodies, including those with diagnosed eating disorders. She also has a passion for working with LGBTQ+ clients who are dealing with food and body concerns.
Michelle brings 10 years of experience in the mental health field to her practice as a licensed counselor. Michelle’s work is Health At Every Size-informed and pulls on theories such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), feminist therapy, and narrative therapy, all of which can be integrated in to her therapeutic work. Her professional experience includes work in both mental health and eating disorder partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient treatment programs. She has experience working with adults and adolescents who are working through a variety of life experiences. Michelle aims to develop a caring, supportive therapeutic relationship with each of her clients, and hopes to empower all clients in the path to their own healing.
Through her experiences and own continual healing, Michelle has developed a passion for supporting others in the eating disorder recovery process and providing space for clients to grow in a way that feels authentic to them. Her work with clients centers around identifying their own value system and exploring how to turn towards these beliefs rather than being focused on food and their body as a coping mechanism. Michelle believes everyone has the ability to be free from trying to control their bodies, and can engage with the world and themselves in a more meaningful way.
Getting to Know Michelle
Hello! Thanks for visiting my page. I am so passionate about the work I do as a licensed counselor and eating disorder specialist, and pull a lot of motivation from my own experience in eating disorder recovery. I am also a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community and am constantly in the pursuit of learning ways to support my clients in their unique healing process.
Alongside my role as therapist, I take my role as “the fun aunt” very seriously with my five nieces and two nephews. I love spending time with my large extended family, as well as going on day trips to the beach and nearby towns with my wonderful partner Alex and our puppy Archie. As much as I relish time with friends and family, I am also a home body and enjoy spending time reading at home and going on walks in my neighborhood. I also love baking, celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah, traveling, hiking and spending time outdoors, getting tattoos (and constantly dreaming up my next one), and going to see my favorite bands in concert. In general, I am consistently seeking out new and unique experiences in life, all the while balancing it out with lots of time at home to recharge.
